Nike womens Dunks

Posted in For the Ladies with tags on July 4, 2008 by gumsole

Another further look into the womens offerings emanating from Nike. It has been undeniable the uprising of sneaker popularity among the fairer sex and their sorely under-representation for releases. But all female fears should be quelled with some solid releases on the way from Nike Sportswear as they visit the Dunk. Check your nearest Nike Sportswear dealer for availability.

Fila and Nas

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on July 4, 2008 by gumsole

Nas usually isn’t one for picking great endorsement deals. Willie Esco? 310 Motoring for kicks? But the Queens rapper might be smartening up. Nas recently inked a deal with Fila Footwear to serve as a spokesman for Italian-founded company. “My best friend [Ill] Will and I loved Fila,” Nas explained. “It represented prestige and everything that was cool to us [when we were younger]. When Will passed, we buried him in a black Fila sweat suit, so doing a deal with them has a lot of significance for me.”

The Leak

Contradiction usually breeds confusion, but, within hip-hop, a measured dose of duality can produce large amounts of intrigue. Iconic figures like Nas and 2Pac built classic catalogues with their creative side-switchin’, and if his latest mixtape, The Leak, is any indication, Louisiana’s Lil Boosie is capable of following suit. The disc opens with “Undeniable Talent,” where Boosie brags, “Jewelry like Slick Rick/Keyshia Cole saw me, said, ‘Boosie, that’s too much shit.’” Going from gaudy to grown man, he follows with the bluesy “Doin’ This for U,” where he puts family above all else, droppin’ lines like, “I got a mama so sweet/But her heart so weak, she can’t heal without me.”Boosie quickly switches his stance and spits seductive venom at the hearts of young women on the sinfully good “I Ain’t Coming Home Tonight.” On the unapologetic player’s anthem, Boosie Bad Azz balances a remorseful hook (“I ain’t coming home tonight/I know it ain’t right”) with blatant lies (“Tell my girl that I got studio time”), but even in the midst of infidelity you feel the rapper’s plight.Despite his natural conviction, Boosie relishes the spotlight and, at times, overindulges in vanity. On the standout “Act a Donkey,” he quips, “I always wanted to be on TV/So I’ma do some shit so they can see me,” then utilizes his diamonds to cause a chain reaction on “My Victim.” Even when gangsta-toned songs like “Never Been a Bitch” and the dreary “In My Hood” miss their mark, Boosie tiptoes the line between sinner and saint with enjoyable results. With each release, Lil Boosie continues to evolve, proving that there is some good in the Bad.

Summer Ball

Last night at the Tri-State Classic on 145th and Lenox, Shammgod Wells blessed the hometown crowd with a punishing performance: 38 points, 15 assists and highlight after highlight. The crowd was hype to see their native son return and rep the block. “We scored 38 and 15.” Thats how you know you are reppin’, when every victory is not just a personal one, but one for your hood. He not only lit up the scoreboard, but got the W. Always gracious, he showed love to everybody, even stopping to kiss an elder on the cheek. This dude should run for office. God Obama.

Something definitely humorous yet straight to the point can describe his latest collaboration with San Francisco based Huf. Included in the collection will be two tee’s as well as a signed limited edition silkscreened poster releasing this Saturday June 5th at both Huf Sutter and Huf LA locations
